If you are looking for a senior residential care setting or assisted living in Sonoma County, the Residential Care Counseling Program, a service of Senior Advocacy Services, offers a comprehensive approach to assist individuals and families who are looking to evaluate long-term care options in Sonoma County.
How can the program help you?
Over half of all persons 65 and over will require some form of long-term care during
their life. There are many forms of long-term care to consider-skilled nursing facilities residential care facilities, assisted living facilities, and senior retirement units to
name a few.
The choice of a long-term care setting can be very important to the health and well being of the person(s) involved. With over 150 residential care and assisted living facilities in Sonoma County, the selection of the best available options requires up-to-date information and care assessment of each person's needs. Residential Care Counseling gives you the information to help make this vital decision.
We provide:
Counseling for seniors in transition and their family members
Counseling on residential care options that match each person's needs with
appropriate facilities in terms of size, level of care, cost, location and other factors
In depth profiles, including photographs, of all residential care/assisted living
facilities
We also maintain a county-wide list of current vacancies and prices
Copies of State Licensing surveys with information about facility strengths and
weaknesses
A packet of useful information and articles on topics including admissions
agreements, paying for long-term care and relocation
Who we are:
Our Residential Care Counseling Program is supported entirely by donations from our clients and community contributions. No placement bonuses or fees are collected from the long-term care facilities in order to guarantee that the information we provide you is unbiased. We do request a one-time only donation of $50 to help cover our costs. There is also no time limit for the counseling meetings.
Our counselors are certified and experienced Ombudsmen and have worked and advocated for seniors in transition for over 10 years. Their combined areas of expertise include mental health issues for seniors, senior housing, relocation and resources available in the community to help individuals remain at home if that is a viable option.
